The development
What seemed a great British technological triumph in 1968 quickly became a catastrophe as Rolls-Royce's ambitious schedule for the RB-211 was endangered. Rolls-Royce's problems became so great that the company was finally nationalized by Edward Heath's
Conservative government in 1971 and the carbon fiber manufacturing plant sold to form Bristol
Composites.Given the limited market for a very expensive product of variable quality, Morganite
also decided that carbon fiber manufacture was peripheral to its core business, leaving Courtaulds
as the only big UK manufacturer.The company continued making carbon fiber, developing two main
markets: aerospace and sports equipment. The speed of manufacture and the quality of the product
were improved.During the nineteen seventys, experimental work to find alternative raw materials led
to the introduction of carbon fibers made from a petroleum pitch derived from oil processing. These
fibers contained about 85% carbon and had excellent flexural strength.Some examples of processing techniques are: filament winding, weaving, braiding, prepeg carbon fiber ( pre impregnated carbon fiber) and pultrusion. The filaments created in the manufacturing process are stranded into yarn. This yarn is rated and classified by its linear density or by filaments per yarn count. Linear density is determined by weight per unit length =1 g/1000 m = tex. The number of filaments per yarn count are counted by thousands. For example 100 tex for 1,500 filaments of carbon fiber is 1.5 times as strong as 500 carbon fibers, but is also 1.5 times as heavy. The thread can be used to weave a CF filament cloth or fabric. The pattern on the fabric is generally dependent on the density of the yarn and the weave chosen.

The carbon fiber tubes Shanghai Lijin mainly produce is
table-rolled and oven thermoset. The tubes can be Full Carbon or
Carbon Fiber and Fiberglass composite, depending on the
application, weight limit,mechanical
strength and surface requirement.Shanghai Lijin offers top quality ROUND carbon fiber tubes. The general OD tolerance we achieve is +/-0.10mm and it can be even +/-0.05mm after our special surface process.
The maximum length of the tube can be 5500mm.
Besides the traditional table-rolled carbon fiber tubes, Shanghai Lijin also offers REAL Filament wound carbon fiber tubes,which are widely used for mechanical strength like auto driving shaft, antennas, even for military
applications. The filament wound carbon tubes are wound at a certain angle like 30 or 45 degree. We invested the new production line from Jun 2013 and this increases Shanghai Lijin’s advantage in the carbon
fiber tube industry. There are just a few real filament wound carbon fiber tube manufacturers in domestic
China and we are one of them.
Since the rapid growth of UAV in the international market, instead of the standard plane like Phantom from DJI, RC fans are getting more interested in the customized multicopters. As carbon fiber is the most preferred
